Summer is the season for enjoying cocktails and mocktails during the warm evenings. My Mamma Mia! party mocktail recipe is inspired by the cocktail that plays a part during the Chiquitita scene. It’s super simple and incredibly quick to mix together, making it the perfect drink for a Mamma Mia! movie night or even a Mamma Mia! bachelorette party! Dancing queens assemble!

The Drink
If you’ve read any of my no bake recipes like my Mulan breakfast inspired mousses or my The Golden Girls midnight cheesecake, you’ll likely understand that I like to stay consistent with the titles of each section in my posts, even when baking isn’t a requirement in the recipe.
I can get away with still using “The Bake” as a title even when technically no baking is involved because for the most part, I’m sharing recipes for sweet treats.
This time, I can’t get away with it.

My Mamma Mia! party mocktail recipe is far from a baked good, but something I’ve been wanting to create for Flavour of the Film for a while.
As I’m heading to Austria for two weeks in a few days, I saw this time as a prime opportunity to create a Mamma Mia! inspired piece. Summer is just around the corner, after all, and can you get a more Summer-y film than this ABBA-filled fiesta?
Drinks are super quick and super fun to put together, especially when they’re themed and paper umbrellas are mixed into the equation. The last mocktail I created was for my Disney Coco inspired menu!
My Mamma Mia! party mocktail is inspired by the very cocktail that we see Tanya have made for her by her admirer, which she also carries to the bathroom with her in tow of Donna. It makes a reappearance during Chiquitita soon after.

I rewatched the film and went all in with the zoom on my phone camera to try and deduce what exactly this cocktail could be.
A slice of orange and something that looks a lot like mango, along with the colour and consistency of the liquid are the main clues I based my own Mamma Mia! party mocktail on.
That is how my own recipe for this cocktail came to be. I’ve omitted the alcohol to make it a family friendly drink, but you are – of course – welcome to add your choice of alcohol into the drink if you wish to.
Just be sure that you are the legal drinking age in your country of residence and always know your limits, friends. Cocktails shouldn’t have more than 50 ml of alcohol in them.

Top Tips
- If you prefer slightly different ratios of fruit juice to the base element in your Mamma Mia! party mocktail, you can absolutely adjust to your own taste. Simply mix to your preference, using this recipe as a guide.
- This is a mocktail, but as I mentioned above, if you would like to then you can add up to 50 ml (per drink) to your mix to create a cocktail. I recommend light or dark rum, both of which mix deliciously with the flavours in these drinks!
- This recipe can be doubled or halved to change the yield. For one drink, simply pour a ratio of: 200ml lemonade, 150ml tropical juice, 100ml orange juice and a splash of blackcurrant for colour (the latter is optional).
- If fizzy drinks aren’t your vibe, feel free to swap out the lemonade for still water.
- Paper umbrellas are optional, but really elevate the drink’s visual appearance. You can find them in lots of supermarkets or online.
A Mamma Mia! party mocktail is just the beverage to mix together for your Mamma Mia! movie night or themed party, particularly if summer is calling and you’re in the mood for dancing. Enjoy!
Happy… mixing, happy drinking!

The Recipe
Ingredients
Mamma Mia! party mocktail:
- 400ml lemonade or Sprite
- 200ml smooth orange juice
- 300ml tropical juice (a mix or just mango juice)
- Two splashes of blackcurrant juice i.e. Ribena
- A slice of orange per drink optional
- A slice of mango per drink optional
Serves: 2
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Method
Mamma Mia! party mocktails:
- In a couple of large drink glasses, pour in the orange juice, tropical juice, and a splash of ribena into each one, dividing the liquids evenly.
- Pour in the lemonade and mix well with a metal spoon or stirrer.
- If desired, slice fresh oranges and mangos in thick wedges, then make a cut in the centre of each wedge, making sure not to cut the whole wedge in half. Add one slice of orange and one slice of mango to each drink by using the small cut to sit them on the rim of the glass.
- Add an umbrella and stirrer each if desired. Serve immediately.
These Mamma Mia! party mocktails are so easy and such fun to make. I hope they make you feel as though you’ve been transported into the film! Once mixed, these drinks are best served immediately, but can be kept in the fridge until needed. Just be wary that if not kept in an airtight container, the fizzy element is likely to go flat. Enjoy!
The Film
I went to the cinema to see this film when it was released back in 2008. I loved it so much that I decorated my school planner with things like “Mamma Mia! is the best movie ever!”. I even had one of the posters set as my laptop wallpaper.
No matter what your taste in film is like, whether you are a fan of musicals or perky pop or not, there’s no debating that this film is just pure fun and unlimited joy.
From the sounds of on-set reports, everyone involved making the film had a hoot. Particularly as it was reported that copious amounts of alcohol was consumed. It all makes sense now…

Inspired by the music of Swedish music sensation, ABBA, Mamma Mia! is a film driven by the very songs that it celebrates.
Being set in Greece helps, too.
This adaptation of the musical was directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Both the musical book and the screenplay were created by Catherine Johnson.
With a leading cast that includes Amanda Seyfried; Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, Stellan Skarsgård, Christine Baranski, Colin Firth, and Dominic Cooper, it would be hard to not have fun with this film.
We were also treated to cameos from Benny and Björn of ABBA as well!
If I was ever asked to recommend a “party in a movie”, it would be Mamma Mia!.
It’s my best friend’s favourite movie and we have plans to holiday in Greece in Mamma Mia! style, which I am very much looking forward to.
